Because drawing non-traditional mermaids is a whole lot of fun.
The flat coloring I did for this was inspired by two things - 's recent vector images and a watercolor wash technique I'm using in one of my art classes. It was interesting, and oddly time-consuming, to do this in colored pencil. But I like how it turned out. Also, thanks to my llovely for helping me figure out the background color. I was having a lot of trouble with it and I couldn't have done it without her
I also have to say that the eyes make this for me. And also the feeling that even though we're witnessing an affectionate moment, they're both probably dangerous.
